Sylhet at a glance

Upazilla:
There are 39 Upazillas in Sylhet Division. They are: 

Sylhet:
Balagonj,  Beanibazar, Bishwanath, Companigonj, Dakshin Surm. Fenchugonj, Gulapgonj, Guainghat, Jaintapur, Kanaighat  Sylhet Sadar, Jakigonj.
Sunamganj:
Bishwambarpur, Chhatak, Derai, Dharmpasha, Duarabazar, Jagannatpur, Jamalgonj, Shalla, Tahirpur and Sunamgonj Sadar, South Sunamgonj.
Moulvibazar:
Baralekha, Komalgonj, Kulaura, Rajnagar, Srimangol and Moulvibazar sadar, Juri.

Habiganj:

Ajmiriganj, Bhahubal,  Baniachaung, Chunarughat, Habiganj Sadar Lakhai, Madhabpur, Nabiganj, Saystagonj.

Union-councils:

Sylhet has 329 union councils. There are:
Sylhet– 101 Union-Counsil.
Sunamganj– 84 Union-Counsil.
Moulvibazar– 67 Union-Counsil.
Habiganj- 77 Union-Counsil.

Area:

Total are of Sylhet division is 12,596 square kilometers.

Sunamganj– 3,670 square kilometers.
Moulvibazar– 2,799 square kilometers.
Habiganj- 2,637 square kilometers.

Population:

The population of Sylhet within the city corporation, was approximately 427,265 (2007). Together with the metropolitan area it has a population of 2,675,346 as of 2001. Density of population is 627/sq kilometers. The majority of Sylhetis are Muslims (93%), other religious groups include Hindus (7%), and very few numbers of other religions, mainly Buddhists and Christians (less than 0.1%).

The average rate of literacy in Sylhet division is 40.66%
Sylhet: 45.63%
Sunamgonj: 37.97%
Moulvibazar: 40.66%
Habiganj: 37.08%
Constituency:
In Sylhet there are 19 our of 300 constituencies in the Jatio Sansad (Parliament) A representative / member of the parliament are elected by the voters after every five years. A number is allotted to every constituency Starting from the boarding Northern are Panchagar.
Sylhet – 6 Constituencies.
Sunamganj – 5 Constituencies.
Moulvibazar – 4 Constituencies.
Habiganj – 4 Constituencies.
